Totsch Scores Stoppage Time Game Winner

A minute after the Red Bulls II tied the match in stoppage and celebrated as if they’d won something, Rhinos rookie midfielder Sean Totsch converted on a leaping header off Jonny Mendoza’s corner kick and the referee’s whistle blew. Game over. Rochester won 3-2, earning itself momentum just when it looked like the Rhinos were about to suffer a deflating result.

“What we take out of this is that we can fight back even with a guy down and we can still win the game,” Totsch said, alluding to midfielder Mike Garzi’s 60th-minute red card (second yellow) that had Rochester playing short-handed.

It was the first goal in his pro career for Northern Illinois-product Totsch.
