Totsch Good Sub for Rochester; Set Record Unbeaten Streak

With players from some of their former championship teams watching during Hall-of-Fame Night at Sahlen’s Stadium, the Rochester Rhinos made some history of their own on Saturday.

Midfielder Tony Walls converted a penalty kick in the 78th minute and goalie Brandon Miller and the Rhinos weathered monsoon-like conditions to beat the Pittsburgh Riverhounds, 1-0, and improve their USL record to 9-0-5. It’s the longest unbeaten streak to start a season in the club’s 20-year history, breaking the 13-match run in 1998, when Rochester won its first A-League title.

“It was ugly but it was a rewarding win,” he said, praising the effort off the bench of defender Julian Ringhof and midfielder Sean Totsch, who came in during difficult conditions. “Good teams find a way and adapt.”
