Bridges players put stamp on season with USSF 2 Runner Up Finish

After finishing up his season with the Charleston Battery, Tom Heinemann would probably have been happy enough with the USL 2 title.  But thanks to former teammate and Bridges alum Matt Bobo, Heinemann would get a shot at a second title; with the NASL’s Carolina Railhawks.  Heinemann and Bobo were teammates together when the Charleston Battery were in USL 1 just a season ago.  After Charleston’s season ended, Bobo’s current club the Carolina Railhawks picked up Heinemann to try and add some offensive firepower for a run at the USSF 2 Championship.  Heinemann did just that.  In the second leg of the semi final, he came on to score the playoff winner in the 89th minute.  Also influential in the victory were Bobo in the back, and Bridges midfielder Brad Rusin, who opened the scoring in the 72nd minute.

Not finished, Heinemann scored again in the second leg of the final, this time against Puerto Rico.  However, his goal would not be enough as Carolina would fall 3-1 on aggregate, taking home runner up honors for the 2010 season.  For more information on the games, click the links below.
