Bridges FC Wins 2 – 0 vs. HB Køge

Yesterday (Thursday, July 26, 2012) Bridges FC earned a 2 – 0 victory against partner club HB Køge in Nakskov, Denmark.  It was a hard fought match by both sides.  Bridges staff was very happy to see Køge Head Coach Tommy at the helm and up and about after a very bad cycling accident last month.  Earlier in June, Tommy visited Bridges in Chicago and ran training sessions as well as came on the road with us to play the Dayton Dutch Lions Super 20 team.  It was very good for all of our staff and players to see him ok and even back to coaching so soon.

In the 16th minute of the match, Bridges got on the board first with a beautiful series of crosses started by Paul Tracy playing a ball over the back line to Dominic Adams on the right wing.  Dominic then brought the ball down to the end line and played a skillful cross to Brandon in front of the goal who was able to convert our first point of the match.  Play was fairly even after that point, however again, the defense for Bridges FC kept HB Køge from having any dangerous scoring opportunities.  In the 2nd half, in the 81st minute, Derek Huffman sealed the victory after a cross from Chad Burt came in to Cory Weaver, who’s shot came over to Derek for a finish on the right side of the goal.

Bridges continued to play well and have good opportunities to possess the ball.  Again, our defense was the primary importance of the match.  HB Køge played very well.  This match was a very good match for Bridges FC and helped to continue our strong partnership with HB Køge.

Bridges next match is tomorrow (Saturday, July 28, 2012) against BK Frem, a 2nd Division team in Denmark.
