Bridges FC Signs Agreement with Danish Superliga Team HB Koge

Koge, Denmark – On the eve of their final match in Denmark, Bridges FC made sure they would be back, signing an agreement with Superliga team, HB Koge.  After a 1-1 draw last Wednesday, both sides indicated a desire for a long-term relationship.  As of Friday, July 24 2009, that desire has become a contract between the two teams.  Coach Bret Hall noted, “This is a great opportunity for our players to have a chance to play at the highest level in Denmark.  We are ecstatic to be partnered with such a great organization and are excited to see the benefits for both clubs.”  Danish Side, HB Koge, who recently merged with Herfolge, have been looking to bring in top American talent as well as provide their youth with an opportunity to play amongst the best competition in the states.  With each club winning Danish Championships in the past, HB Koge is looking to get back on top; this time together,

The agreement will allow Bridges FC players to go on trial with HB Koge.  Based on their performance, HB Koge will look to either sell the player to another Danish side or enter them into their own first team.  In return, Bridges is proud to bring HB Koge’s U17 and U19 teams to Chicago to compete in a tournament against some of the nations finest youth teams at a date to be announced.

Based on their showing thus far, HB Koge has identified an interest in bringing defender, Pat McMahon, and forward, Desmond Tachie, into camp.  The two will live together and train with HB Koge, splitting time between their first and reserve teams. “I’m really excited about the opportunity,” remarked McMahon.  “We will get a chance to learn a new system and try to show well for ourselves.  I think we are up to the challenge.”

This is the first U.S. relationship for HB Koge, who currently have agreements with teams in England, Lithuania, and Iceland.  HB Koge Sporting Director, Per Rud, commented, “We are excited to work with Bridges FC/Chicago Sockers.  The American spirit and fitness are quite high.  We are also very pleased to get a fine playing opportunity for our U17 and U19 teams in the United States.”

With HB Koge being the first type of relationship for Bridges FC. the club is eager to both help develop the HB Koge youth system as well as provide opportunities for its own players.  Director of Player Relations, Ian Leibbrandt, took a different angle, noting the similarities in each clubs values, adding, “HB Koge’s mission is ‘Good Morals, Good Football’, and we would like to think that Bridges FC’s ideals are similar.  In HB Koge, we have found a fantastic organization, and we look forward to working with them for a long time to come.”

With the agreement starting officially at today’s signing, McMahon and Tachie will remain with HB Koge after Bridges heads back to the states on Monday.  You will be able to keep up to date on their happenings and progress here at BridgesFC.com.
