Bridges FC Falls To Vitesse Reserves 4-0
In our first match of the European Tour, Bridges fell to a very strong Vitesse Reserve Team (a Europa League Team) 4-0. Our team competed hard throughout the match but was unable to convert 4 shots on goal into points on the board. The game was played on a brand new synthetic turf field at the national sports complex in Arnhem, the training site for Vitesse. The match started in pouring rain, and ended in it as well. The speed of play was very fast and gave us a good initial game to get used to the high level of competition in the Netherlands. “We must go through the valley of humility beyond rationalization in order to improve as players and as a team,” said Head Coach Bret Hall.
This year we have players with much potential to become professional players, but it is a process. This is the continuation of that process. The games we play are intended to be fiercely competitive and against very high level teams. Most players that come through Bridges are first exposed to this level of competition on this European Tour.
Although Vitesse controlled more of the possession, Bridges never let down and fought hard through the end of the match, which allowed for a few very good chances on goal in counter attack and through build up.
We next play against ‘t Vliegdorp on Thursday, July 19th at 8:00 pm Netherlands time.
